MEMORY MARKERS
Each Year, We Remember
Memory markers are a way to remember those we have lost to suicide and to remind us why this cause is so important.
We are sorry for your loss.
Each year, we place memory markers along the race course on the Memory Mile for runners and walkers to honor the memory of loved ones lost to suicide.
Making a Memory Marker for Your Loved One
Family and friends create the memory markers with pictures, poems or art to capture who the individual was in life. You can see examples of some memory markers in this video from a previous run. This is a beautiful way to honour the life of someone important to you who died by suicide. Cover your memory marker with a clear adhesive cover to prevent your marker from being impacted by the elements
Need a Memory Marker Board
Rotary Run for Life has a limited number of premade, blank memory marker boards. Contact us using the link above so we can arrange to get a blank marker to you.
Memory Marker Drop-Off
You can drop off your memory marker at Race Package Pick-up or meet us by 7:30 am on Sunday at the Outdoor Wellness Park (4210 44 Avenue, Stony Plain) where we will be setting up the Memory Mile. *All memory markers will be picked up from the memory mile and dropped off back at Heritage Park by 9:45 am on race day.
Memory Marker Ceremony
Our memory marker ceremony has all the memory markers brought back to the pavilion during the entertainment portion of the breakfast. The memory markers can be brought up to the front by family members or volunteers, please let us know which option you would prefer.
Taking Your Marker Home
We are unable to store memory markers from year to year. Please take your memory marker home at the end of the event. Please organize alternative pick-up arrangements should you not be able to stay for the whole event.
